Ilhan Omar, AOC Demand Iran Sanctions END During Coronavirus

(FamilyRetirementClub.Com)- It will come as a surprise to few readers here that Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York have chosen to side with Iran during while the world suffers the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, the two Democratic Congresswomen called on President Trump and his administration to end all sanctions on Iran during the pandemic, despite the many generous offers the president gave the country to help contain its catastrophic virus outbreak.

In a Tweet, Omar described her demands.

“I led a letter with [Rep. Ocasio-Cortez] and [Sen. Bernie Sanders] demanding this Administration end sanctions against Iran during the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.

“These sanctions aren’t changing the behavior of the Iranian government, but directly punishing innocent civilians.”

That’s the kind of attitude we’ve all come to expect from the far-left Democrats – give in when hostile countries don’t listen or comply!

Fellow socialist Ocasio-Cortez also announced on Twitter that she was a part of the push to get the president to free Iran of its sanctions, despite multiple military attacks against the United States and its allies.

HuffPost reported on Tuesday that Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, and even Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders are among more than two-dozen Democratic members of Congress who are making the demand. The Democratic lawmakers signed a letter to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, calling on the Trump administration to end its “sweeping U.S. sanctions on Iran that are hindering the country’s response to its massive coronavirus outbreak.”

Don’t these guys know that Iran rejected help from the United States already?

The letter also claimed that failing to lift the sanctions would, somehow, hurt American citizens.

“Allowing this crisis to become more dire in Iran threatens significant harm not only to the people of Iran but also to people in the United States and around the world.”

They didn’t explain precisely how it will hurt the United States, and nor did they recognize Iran’s total unwillingness to cooperate with the rest of the world in curbing the spread of the virus in its territory.
