Gov Whitmer Blasts Trump for Clamping Down On Her Illegal Absentee Ballot Action

( Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the unpopular Democratic governor of Michigan who implemented one of the strictest lockdown measures in the country, has taken aim at President Donald Trump for responding to her illegal decision to send absentee ballot applications to voters across her state.

Whitmer, who is for some reason being considered as Joe Biden’s possible VP nomination, told CBS This Morning on Thursday that the president’s threat of withholding federal funding is “unacceptable.” Whitmer didn’t, however, address the fact that she broke the law when she sent absentee ballot applications to Michigan voters.

It follows President Trump’s suggestion that he may withhold federal funding unless Whitmer stops illegally distributing the absentee voter applications to people who are not eligible to receive them. It is part of a wider push by the Democrats to implement vote-by-mail for the November election, a move that would open national elections up to a huge amount of corruption and fraud. President Trump has warned that such a move could risk people voting on behalf of dead people and residents who have left the state, citing examples of it having happened in California already.

Whitmer expressed her anger that Trump would withhold funding when her state is struggling with two broken dams and 10,000 resident evacuated as a result.

“You know, we are in the midst of this global pandemic,” she said. “We lost 5,000 people in the state of Michigan. It’s been devastating. We are at a point where we think it’s safe to start re-engaging sectors of our economy, but then this flood hits. We’ve got to evacuate tens of thousands of people who are worried and scared. On top of this global pandemic. And to have this kind of distraction is just ridiculous, to be honest.”

Maybe she should have thought about that before she broke the law and specifically went against the clear direction of the president?

Whitmer said that “threatening to take money away from a state that is hurting as bad as we are right now is just scary.”

Time will tell whether President Trump will withhold the funds, knowing that the residents need it – but one thing is for sure and that’s that President Trump won’t allow the Democrats to get away with passing vote-by-mail when it seriously risks the integrity of the November election.
