( 2020 quickly descended into chaos. After a relatively normal January and February, the year took a turn for the worst with the Chinese coronavirus crippling the economy and forcing people to stay home, and later race riots breaking out across major American cities. As Americans have become more conscious than ever about protecting their family and property, gun sales have increased dramatically.

More than two million Americans purchased a gun for the first time, according to new reports. The National Rifle Association publicized the news on June 3.

The data came from the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS), which checks everyone who purchases a gun to ensure that they do not have a criminal record or history that might suggest they would not be a responsible owner. A total of 3,091,455 NICS checks took place during May 2020, which was a significant increase over the 2,349,309 checks that took place in May last year. It’s also the biggest number for any May since the NICS checks records started in 1999.

According to Small Arms Analytics and Forecasting, gun sales in May 2020 showed an increase of over 80% compared to the year previously. The majority of guns that were sold her handguns and not guns typically used in sports. It indicates that people turning up to gun and ammunition stores were specifically looking for a small firearm to keep at home, or to wear, to protect themselves during these uncertain times.

The number of people who applied for and purchased guns in March 2020 was higher than any month in history. It suggests Americans aren’t believing the lies told by the Democrats, and who can blame them?
