Cops Arrest Pro-Life Sidewalk Counselor For Breaking Coronavirus Lockdown Rules

(FamilyRetirementClub.Com)- North Carolina cops arrested a pro-life sidewalk counselor on Sunday morning for breaking shelter-in-place coronavirus lockdown rules. David Benham, a legend in the pro-life scene, was engaging in usual sidewalk counselling in North Carolina outside an abortion clinic when officers confronted him.

Benham described the events on his Twitter account, releasing video footage of him arguing with police officers who described his work as “non-essential.”

How is it that an abortion clinic is considered “essential” during these times?

“This morning was unlawfully arrested while supporting sidewalk counselors outside an abortion clinic,” the Benham Brothers Twitter account reported on Sunday morning. “Many have labeled David a fake Christian and claimed that he endangered lives by being out. These accusations couldn’t be further from the truth.”

The Twitter account explained how David “maintained social distancing while exercising all necessary precautions in light of COVID-19.”

In the video, David Benham can be seen talking to a police officer and putting forward the argument that if abortion clinics stay open during the lockdown period, then the work of pro-life counsellors is also essential to help at-risk women. Benham told officers that he and all other sidewalk counsellors were standing six feet away from one another and were regularly washing their hands.

David, however, was still arrested.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas defended David and the sidewalk counsellors, taking to Twitter to say “My friend David Benham was unconstitutionally arrested today in NC for peacefully providing pregnancy counselling outside an abortion clinic.”

Cruz, who is also a lawyer, explained how the arrest is unconstitutional in a series of tweets. The Republican lawmakers described how Democrats are “abusing their power for political agenda & face civil liability under 42 USC 1983.”
