(FamilyRetirementClub.com) – Mike Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City and currently a candidate to become the Democratic presidential nominee, has vowed to investigate ICE and end Trump’s successful immigration policies.
With his late entry in the Democratic presidential race, Bloomberg has only just released his platform on immigration. On Monday, his campaign team announced that he would undo several of Trump’s immigration initiatives, including the “Remain in Mexico” program. By ending the program, which is officially known as the “Migrant Protection Protocols” program, Bloomberg would be stopping a system that ensures asylum seekers stay in Mexico while they go through the US court system.
It has been described by Chad Wolf, acting DHS secretary, as an “extremely effective tool,” which is no doubt the reason Bloomberg wants to undo it. The standard platform for Democrats these days seems to be making it as easy as possible for people to gain access unlawfully to the United States with as little difficulty as possible.
Bloomberg also announced that he would stop metering at the border and get rid of a number of asylum agreements. Surprisingly, though, Bloomberg didn’t go as far as some of the other candidates in the race to become the nominee.
The proposal explained how the immigration system “isn’t working for any of us,” and blamed “congressional inaction coupled with President Trump’s incompetent and cruel policies” for the chaos at the border. Bloomberg noted that families are separated at the border, with millions of immigrants in “legal limbo.”
The new plan also promised to investigate ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that keep Americans safe and defend the border. Bloomberg even promised to investigate Customs and Border Protection, claiming “abuse” from hard-working staff.
Elsewhere within the policy proposal document, Bloomberg’s campaign promises to offer a pathway to citizenship for more than 11 million illegal aliens currently in the United States. He also promised to offer protection for so-called “Dreamers” (Americans dream too, you know!) through the restoration of DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals legislation that was ended following an executive order by President Trump. Those who currently have Temporary Protected Status would also be given a pathway to citizenship courtesy of a President Bloomberg.
The message is simple. If you don’t want borders, vote Bloomberg!
