(FamilyRetirementClub.com)- Presumably knowing that they can’t win in a fair fight, Democrat-leaning (and anti-Trump) advertisers are pressuring social media giant Facebook to censor President Donald Trump in the run-up to the November election.
According to a report from The New York Times, Facebook is facing increasing pressure from SJW-minded corporations who are already pulling ad money from the platform in the hope it will encourage CEO Mark Zuckerberg to interfere in the presidential election.
The Times reports how the co-founder of Pearmill, a New York ad agency, told the paper how they disagree with Facebook’s approach to Trump.
“For the past couple of years, this problem has become bigger and bigger,” the founder said. “These massive platforms have to care about free speech issues to some extent, but Facebook is on the extreme end of not caring.”
Dave Morgan, the chief executive of another advertising company, said, “I think this is Facebook’s time of reckoning.”
“It may not be immediate or dramatic, but advertisers have given Facebook a lot of passes and now we are hearing they are saying it will be harder to stand back,” he added.
According to the report, New York software company Braze withdrew a Facebook advertising campaign worth $60,000, citing the decision to allow President Trump continued access to the social media platform.
President Donald Trump enjoyed a prominent social media presence in 2016, though no more significant than his Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton. Trump combined real-world enthusiasm for his campaign priorities and pledges with effective online messaging that ultimately won him the White House, but made far-left activists angry that conservatives were allowed to use social media in the first place.
It immediately sparked a backlash, and since Trump’s election, several prominent conservative voices have been kicked off Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Twitter has already engaged in censorship of President Trump, recently labeling his tweets about voter fraud inaccurate. When President Trump warned that the use of mail-in voting could increase the likelihood of fraud, Twitter directed users to “Get the facts” about mail-in voting and directed them to a page that contained several falsehoods presented as a “fact check.”
Time will tell whether Facebook will cave and take similar action…or worse. Given that most major brands are already bowing to the woke BLM mob, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they will join in the Facebook ad boycott until they remove Trump and all other conservatives from the platform.
