(FamilyRetirementClub.com) – As if the Senate vote to acquit President Donald Trump of impeachment charges wasn’t enough good news, now we’re hearing that the al-Qaeda deputy leader has been killed by the US military.
On Thursday, the White House confirmed that US forces had taken out Qasim al-Rimi, one of the founders as well as the current leader of al-Qaeda within the Arabian Peninsula.
A statement read:
“At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation in Yemen that successfully eliminated Qasim al-Rimi, a founder and the leader of al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and a deputy to al-Qa’ida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.”
In his State of the Union address, President Trump discussed his administration’s successful destruction of the ISIS caliphate in the Middle East. The news that the deputy leader of al-Qaeda has been killed marks the third major terrorist that has been killed by US forces, at the direction of the president, in just a matter of months.
Recently, the American military claimed victory over the leader of Iraq’s Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, as well as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State.
The statement also announced:
“Rimi joined al-Qa’ida in the 1990s, working in Afghanistan for Osama bin Laden. Under Rimi, AQAP committed unconscionable violence against civilians in Yemen and sought to conduct and inspire numerous attacks against the United States and our forces. His death further degrades AQAP and the global al-Qa’ida movement, and it brings us closer to eliminating the threats these groups pose to our national security. The United States, our interests, and our allies are safer as a result of his death. We will continue to protect the American people by tracking down and eliminating terrorists who seek to do us harm.”
Nobody give Nancy Pelosi a copy of the statement…it’s not safe around her!
The news confirms that President Trump’s promise to eradicate Islamist terrorism has not been forgotten, and his administration continues to protect American interests on a global basis. Incredibly, all this has been achieved with minimal military interference, after repeatedly backing down from full-scale war.
